[MUSIC REVIEW] Wizkid – Shabba ft Chris Brown, Trey Songz and French Montana

Wizkid’s latest song “Shabba” has been getting airplays and numerous credits. Let’s review and rate this dope track.
Wizkid’s “SHABBA” is a tribute to Jamaican born dancehall artist Rexton Fernando Gordon popularly known as Shabba Ranks. In 2013 Asap Fergie did Shabba in 2013 to critical acclaim, so Wizzy doing this only bodes well for him on his quest going International. First a version of “shabba” featuring UK’s Section Boyz and Hood Baby was leaked by Chris Brown hours before the original version produced by American Producer “MikeWillMadeIt” ft Chris Brown, Trey Songz and French Montana. The song has an infusion of Afro-Pop and Trap music giving it a good feel. I feel this is a great song with distinctive quality and originality despite some iffy lines from French Montana who seems not to have learned from his Afro-pop mistakes he had when Ice Prince featured him. Chris Brown smootherd the song while Trey Songz deserves a big commendation for his research on Nigerian RnB. The sound is tuneful and compliments the vocal track perfectly. Nigerians got no chill though especially on Twitter were comments are flying about Wizzy’s another International collabo without an actual Wizkid verse. Aside that, it’s a great song and performance. It deserves a (7.5/10)
